Using Multiple Virtual Tours
If you have a business in which people visit you, you should have a virtual tour. Multiple virtual tours? Maybe. But this is what provides your customers with a sense of familiarity. They know what to expect before they even step foot inside your building. When I hand over a completed virtual tour to someone, I genuinely feel that they now have a very powerful tool.
Part of the fun I have when building virtual tours involves my clients. Without them, I’m just a guy with some cameras and a computer. (OK, computers.) Sometimes, my clients expand on my ideas. Lynn is no exception. One day in May, I built a virtual tour for the country-focused furnishings and gift store that she manages, Chester Country Furnishings.
Over time, I check in and make sure the virtual tour is being used, see how things are going, and sometimes mention how many hits their tours are getting on Google Street View. That info is really cool and clients love it.
When I shot that virtual tour for Lynn and showed it to her, she was over the moon with what she saw. The words “speechless” and “magnificent” were used. I kid you not. I showcased her virtual tour on a simple web page that she asked that I built for her. She bought the domain name SeeChesterCountryFurnishings.com and now uses it for her web presence.
I Want More Virtual Tours!
But why would you need more than one virtual tour?
Lynn wanted to take her’s a step further. She loved her virtual tour so much, she had me come back that following November. Why? Because she’d have her store all decked out for Christmas. And because she now has two virtual tours, she wanted to showcase both of them on her website. This would give visitors a chance to see what kind of goodies she has during the summer months and the holiday season.
I thought about creating different versions of a virtual tour, like daytime and nighttime, but having a client want to showcase their location during a different time of the year was something that hadn’t crossed my mind. What else could you use multiple virtual tours for? Quite a few reasons, actually.
- Different holidays (obviously)
- Before and after construction
- Day and night comparisons
- Different event set-ups
- Various room layouts
- Different seasons
- Separate locations
What would you do with multiple tours?
I’m glad to see that Lynn continues to be excited to show off her store in a way that she didn’t know of previously.
