Go Directly to Your Virtual Tour
Sometimes it makes sense to go directly to your virtual tour. There might be something special about it that begs for it to have it’s own domain name. Sure, you have it on your website to make sure that potential customers can see everything you have to offer. They’ll get a nearly first-hand experience seeing your space. They spend time on your website which also helps with your search rankings. Bonus! And I upload it to Google Street View for thousands of more views.
But what about having a URL that goes directly to your virtual tour? It’s a thing.
One of my first clients was The Barrymore Film Center (BFC) in Fort Lee, New Jersey. If you’re a true film buff, you know that Fort Lee is the birthplace of the American film industry. The BFC opened in October of 2022. Hearing about my virtual tours, they were very excited to not only show off their stunning new building, but show it off in a way that made it easy for location scouts to visit – before even stepping foot inside.
Film History
For about as long as film has been around, there have been Location Scouts. These adventurous people are tasked with finding interesting places to shoot films and television shows. When you make their lives easier, they remember you. The BFC is a stunning facility and they wanted to be able to make location scouts’ lives easier with a highly detailed virtual tour.
The main areas, like the theater, green room, and lobby, weren’t the only part of the tour. Back alley access ways, stairwells, storage areas, and backstage doorways were included. Now location scouts are able to see exactly how areas are connected, allowing them to relay to the rest of the crew how accessible areas are to them. Loading in equipment, accessing that equipment, and making sure that everyone will have a place to set up, store gear, and get work done while the choreographed chaos unfolds.
The mammoth task of capturing the entire building, as well as both sides of the street in front of and along side of the building, amassed a staggering 127 panoramic photos. There’s really nothing you can’t see, other than a couple of private offices. And yes, you can see inside the bathrooms.
A trimmed-down version was made for the public. That allows the general masses to see all of the areas normally available to them. The main foyer, theater, museum, gallery, and the public bathrooms. That can be found on their website.
Show Me The Tour
But this post is all about the behind-the-scenes tour of the entire building. Wanting to make it easy to send the tour to location scouts, the Facilities Manager I worked with picked out an easy-to-remember domain name that would link directly to the tour. Because her facility is now armed with that, anyone who needs to take a look around all of the nooks and crannies of the building will be able to. And not forget it.
BarrymoreFilmCenterTour.com says it all.
Show off your virtual tour however you want. Directly with a custom URL, embedded on one of the pages of your website, or with a button on your website that pops it open, how would you provide the public with your virtual tour?
